Where to Get Materials for DIY-ing

I wanted to share with you a few of the places I get my materials from. All of these stores or websites are actual resources I use to source supplies for my projects!

Home Depot

I may be a little bias but, Home Depot is my go to big box home improvement store. Only bias because I used to work at my local HD and know where to find everything in the store. I go here for most of my wood, paint and hardware needs. I like that I can get reasonable prices while getting consistent materials. Home Depot also has a great selection of tools that often go on sale during holidays! I picked up a Ryobi Tool Kit last year around Christmas time and use them with almost every project!

Hobby Lobby

I go to Hobby Lobby when my DIY is a little more craft-like. They have endless amounts of art supplies- paints, paper, fabric, floral and home decor! Also a bunch of smaller hobbies like stamps, beading and baking. Bonus they have sales ALL the time and there is an 40% off coupon on their website.

Thrift Stores

I love thrift stores. They are great for finding quality second had items for cheap! I picked up all of the Mason Jars from my last post ( Weekend Project: Patriotic Mason Jars) at a GoodWill Outlet. I prefer the smaller antique thrift stores to find those vintage or rustic items.

Garage Sales

At garage sales I always look for furniture and tools! These items are easy to get for a steal of a price. They are items people often don’t want to take with them when they move or have hardly used! Another pro is that you can negotiate the price of an item or get a better deal when you buy a few things!

Online Resale Sites- Craigslist & Facebook Marketplace

I like to think of Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace as huge online yard sales! Most of the items are used or like new and for a lower price. I tend to look for the same items- furniture, tools, and more random items like cars and clothing. Both sites have different categories to search through and allow you to set a search location to find items within a few miles away!
